Welcome Lives Here — The Story Behind Fresh Landing

Some homes just have it.

You notice it the moment you walk through the door, something in the air that has nothing to do with the furniture or the paint color or whether the pillows match. It's the feeling that you were expected. That there's room for you here. That whatever you're carrying, you can set it down for a little while.

Our mother had that gift. It didn't matter if it was the front or back doors. When you entered, you went directly to the kitchen. A giant room, often cluttered with mail and school stuff all over the table, but there at the head, was mom. She had the ability to make anyone who crossed her threshold feel like the most welcome person in the room, like showing up was the best thing they could have done that day.

When the World Gets Smaller, You Notice What's Close

Life has a way of nudging you toward something new before you're quite ready.

For us, the nudge came gradually, the kind of quiet shift you don't notice all at once, but one day you look up and realize the path you were on has started to look different than the one ahead. Between the two of us, we've navigated more than a few of those moments. And if we're being honest, we've laughed through most of them. Not because things weren't hard, but because humor has always been the way we hold hard things together. It's how we were raised. It's how we're built.

Fresh Landing grew out of one of those pivots. A teaching career that has been everything, meaningful, exhausting, full, has started to ask a question: what comes next? Not as a crisis. As an invitation. For one of us, the onset of vision loss has changed what the future might be. This"loss" has become our gain and provided the opportunity to create Fresh Landing as an outlet to bring creativity, joy and a whole lot of humor to your day.

Because that's what we believe: the pivot is the point. The transition isn't the interruption to your life. It's the part that changes it.

We are, admittedly, still figuring it out. But we're doing it with good intentions and a lot of coffee.

Handmade on Purpose — What We Make and Why

We didn't build Fresh Landing for the person who wants to fill their home with things. We built it for the person who wants to fill their home with meaning, and who has learned, usually the hard way, that those aren't the same.

Our signature reversible wreath sash changes the math on seasonal décor. Reversible, multi-season, 6 different styling ways, one piece, one hook, no storage bin. For quieter moments, there are the embroidered linen sashes, tactile, heirloom-quality, made to be felt as much as seen. And for milestones that deserve a name, our custom monogram pieces mark the moments that matter.

Everything from the studio is handcrafted in small batches, made on purpose, by hand, by us. Fresh Landing is growing too: garden flags, jewelry, pillows, and home décor are coming, designed by us and produced with partners who share our standards. If we wouldn't put it on our own front door, it doesn't make the cut.

But Fresh Landing was never just about the front door.

From Door to Table — Why This Blog Exists

Our kitchen table should have been declared a historical landmark, and oh, the stories it could tell.

Babies were laid across it fresh from the hospital. Hard news was broken there, slowly, gently, the way you do when the people you love are sitting right in front of you. Plans were made and unmade, arguments were settled, and so was the kind of laughter that makes your stomach hurt. Mom sat at the head and held it all. Whatever you brought to that table, she made you feel like it was worth hearing.

Like your story mattered.

She's why this blog is called From Door to Table. The front door is Fresh Landing's world, the wreaths, the sashes, the bows, the ritual of making your home beautiful. But the blog is the table. It's where we share gift ideas, styling tips, and the kind of honest stories that don't fit on a product page. Where you might come for a wreath idea and leave having thought about something else entirely. That's what she would have wanted. That's what this is.

We think she would have loved a wreath sash, for the record. But mostly we think she would have loved that there's still a table, and that you found your way to it.

Welcome Lives Here — The Table is Set

If you're here, something brought you.

Maybe you just moved somewhere new and you're still figuring out how to make it feel like home. Maybe you're in the middle of a transition, a fresh start, a new season, the quiet work of rebuilding. Maybe you've walked past your front door one too many times and thought: this should feel like more.

Whatever it is, you're in the right place.

You'll find seasonal styling ideas for real homes, gift guides for the moments that matter, a housewarming, a homecoming, a new beginning, and honest stories from two sisters figuring it out as they go.

The shop is there when you're ready. The blog will keep the table set.
